Dawna Hammers Performs "Songs for My Father"

Sun, March 23, 3pm. Join singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and recording artist Dawna Hammers for an inspiring and entertaining afternoon of jazz as she pays and plays tribute to her father on the anniversary of his birthday. Dawna’s Father, Johnny Hammers, played tenor sax and Dixieland clarinet with all the greats here on the Cape in the 70's and 80's. He taught Dawna to listen to and learn the melody and chords of many classic American Songbook tunes by Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and others! For this special performance she’ll break out his tenor sax as well as perform some of her own great songs. Backing her up will be one of Cape's best jazz drummers, Kareem Sanjaghi, and Berklee Bass Professor, Danial Morris (Danny Mo). $25/$20 for members.
