In celebration of Frederick Law Olmsted’s 200th birthday join Plimoth Cinema for this special showing of Olmsted and America’s Urban Parks. The one-hour documentary examines the formation of America’s first great city parks in the late 19th century. While not one of the parks featured in the film, the Plimoth Patuxet Museums' property has Frederick Law Olmsted ties. Along with his brother, Olmsted established Olmsted Brothers landscape architecture firm in 1898. The firm shaped the museum property as a Country Place Era estate for Henry and Hattie Hornblower beginning in 1919 and then consulted for Henry Hornblower II as the landscape transformed into a museum beginning in 1947. Relics of this original design remain today. Following the film, join in a discussion about the Museum landscape led by Josh Meyer, Curator and Director of Museum Gardens and Landscapes.
